Admission Requirements

Southwest University is committed to academic excellence. Student success is our priority!

Undergraduate

Applicants must submit one of the following:

            o       High School Diploma (official transcript)
                     showing completion, or
            o       GED equivalent, or
            o       Veterans/Military Service Members may submit form DD214, or
            o       A Military Statement of Service indicating the high school name and date of graduation, or
            o       Transfer Students who have completed courses toward an Associate Degree, or have
                     completed an Associate Degree, must provide official transcripts from an appropriately
                     accredited postsecondary institution*, or

The University will consider:

            o      Applicants who cannot meet the requirements who have successfully completed 12
                    college-level semester credits and must have attained a or higher for each course at
                    an appropriately accredited postsecondary institution*, or

            o      International or Homeschooled students, who must provide an appropriately
                    authenticated program completion document issued by a governmental authority or
                    school supervisor that attests to the successful completion of a program considered to be
                    equivalent to an accredited high school diploma or GED certificate.

            o      Prospective students with documentation concerns.

*accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Secretary of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or an accepted foreign equivalent that is listed in the International Handbook of Universities.

Graduate

            o      A Bachelor's Degree from an appropriately accredited postsecondary institution*.

Second Southwest University Masters Degree

      A Masters Degree awarded by Southwest University.

Transfer Credit

Undergraduate (Associate)

A maximum of 30 semester hours, with a course grade of C or better, may be transferred. Official transcripts are required.

Undergraduate (Bachelor)

A maximum of 90 semester hours, with a course grade of C or better, may be transferred. Official transcripts are required.

Graduate

A maximum of 9 semester hours, with a course grade of B or better, may be transferred. Official transcripts are required.

All transfer credit must have been earned from an appropriately accredited postsecondary institution*.

Second Southwest University Masters Degree

No Transfer Credit allowed.

Prior / Experiential Learning Credit

Undergraduate (Associate)

A maximum of 15 semester hours may be awarded for prior / experiential learning credit, equivalent to specific courses in the degree program, may be applied toward the Associate Degree.

Undergraduate (Bachelor)

A maximum of 15 semester hours may be awarded for prior / experiential learning credit, equivalent to specific courses in the degree program, may be applied toward the Bachelor Degree.

Graduate

A maximum of 9 semester hours may be awarded for prior / experiential learning credit, equivalent to specific courses in the degree program, may be applied toward the Masters Degree.

Second Southwest University Masters Degree

No Experiential Learning Credit allowed.
