to active and non-active duty service members, veterans and reservists.
Open enrollment allows you to start anytime and has proved ideal for military members. You will receive personalized caring service, a quick turn-around to lesson responses or any other assistance you may request.
Most of our military students are referrals from other military students and graduates.
Transfer and Awarded Experience
Southwest University offers maximum credit for completed course work and military training.
Undergraduate up to 90 semester hours
Graduate up to 9 semester hours
CLEP or DSST and ACE credits can also translate into earned credit toward your degree.
Military Educational Benefits
Southwest University is approved for tuition assistance (TA), DANTES and Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits. Also, educational funding for MGIB, active duty benefits, the Post 9/11 and Military Spouse Career Advancement (MyCAA).
In order to ensure maximum transfer credit is awarded copies of all transcripts are needed. Contact admissions@southwest.edu with questions and to submit documents.

Students can participate in the U.S. Army’s Go Army Ed portal to set up his/her account and take advantage of benefits.

Military Tuition Assistance (TA)
Tuition assistance (TA) is a benefit paid to eligible members of the Armed Forces. Eligible active-duty personnel can receive 100 percent of tuition with a set cap.
$ 250 per semester hour
$4,500 per fiscal year
Also, active duty members may use the MGIB “top-up” in addition to their service provided tuition assistance.
Military Scholarship
Southwest University offers a scholarship to spouses or dependents of active duty military men and women.
Textbooks and Instructional Material
Military students using TA are provided textbooks and instructional materials (Study Guides) at no cost through Southwest University’s Book Grant Program.
Students are responsible for the one-time fees: Application, Registration/Enrollment, and Graduation, and also postage and handling fees.
